I'm back now, but I will be away mid week (Tue, Wed and part of Thursday).

Hopefully the outages will be more controlled now.

I'll be away from the server for these 8 days. I'm hoping that if the connection does go down, it will be noticed on the day it goes off and the server re-started.

If not, Avatar should be back up on the 2nd sometime after 10am.

The online thing oly says that ICQ can see the server - it doesn't say that the gateway server is actually working. If ICQ is online and you cannot connect, chances are there is a problem with the gateway. If you connect but only get as far as the 'Connecting..' bit that usually means the Avatar ser...

The jobs have been completed. Hopefully everything will stay ok now.

Update : its now 12:30 and the contractors have arrived. I'll let you all know when they have finished.

BT have informed me that they need to move my phone lines tomorrow.

They said they will turn up at 10am and it will only take '15mins' to do.

So, if you see Avatar off between these times, its likely that BT are doing something!

Do you think there would be any mileage in having a Mud client section to this forum so we can point out all the clients out there and maybe have someone review them / give setup files instructions for them - a bit like : http://www.avatardev.co.uk/ConnectHints/ConnectionHints.html What do you think?

Sorry about that folks. Looks like BT decided to stop talking to the computer here. I left the system down for a half-hour and now everything seems to be back again (famous last words!).

You've not been giving him tips again have you GlooM?

It seems the poor parrot is being knobbled by both Mercury AND RockChik now...

...May occur whilst the weather is hot! It seems that the gateway server is a little more susceptible to the hot weather we are having up here. I've put a big fan next to it for the moment which will hopefully improve the air circulation around it. If not, i'll have to investigate other ways to cool...
